Therapy
“Trauma” describes the ongoing mind-body distress caused by highly stressful, scary, or upsetting experiences:
- Intense, overwhelming emotions that are hard to control or cope with 
- Feeling worried, on-edge, tense, panicked, or afraid 
- Feeling numb, disconnected, or distant from yourself, other people, or your surroundings 
- Flashbacks (feeling like you’re re-living a traumatic experience), intrusive negative thoughts 
- Sleep issues like insomnia or nightmares 
- Avoiding people, places, or things that remind you of the painful experiences 
- Physical pain and discomfort (like headaches, stomach problems, muscle tension, shakiness)
